Last Saturday, October 18, 2025, the Men of Southeast Raleigh (MSER) gathered at the Biltmore Hills Community Center (2615 Fitzgerald Drive, Raleigh) from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for their 4th Annual Family & Friends Cookout. This event has become a signature fall-community celebration in Southeast Raleigh—uniting neighbors, friends, and families in an afternoon of food, fun, fellowship, and community pride.
A Gathering of Community
From the moment attendees arrived with lawn chairs and games in hand, the mood was friendly and relaxed. Organizers encouraged guests to bring their appetite and their community spirit, with the promise of soulful music, delicious cookout favourites, and plenty of activities for all ages. The setting—under the trees, with music playing and kids roaming about—set the perfect tone for connection and celebration.
What Went Down

Music – A soundtrack of good vibes provided the backdrop, bringing people together and keeping the energy upbeat.
Food – Classic cookout fare (grilled meats, sides, and more) fueled the crowd and reinforced the communal feel of the event.
Raffles & Prizes – Lucky winners walked away with fun raffle items, adding a touch of excitement and thanks-giving from the organizers.
Connection & Conversation – One of the most important aspects: old friends caught up, new faces met, and the bonds of the neighborhood were strengthened.
Why It Matters
This isn’t just a cookout—it’s a statement of community unity. The Men of Southeast Raleigh describe their mission as “uplifting and empowering their community through service, fellowship, and positive engagement.” By creating a space where families, neighbors, and friends can gather free of formalities and full of joy, they reinforce the idea that a strong neighbourhood is built through relationships and shared moments—not just events.
Looking Ahead
As the leaves turn and the weather cools, this cookout stands as a reminder: when community comes together, great things happen. Next year, attendees can look forward to more of the same warmth, fun, and togetherness—perhaps with even more games, music, and surprises.
Final Thoughts
If you were there, you felt it: the laughter of children, the sizzle of the grill, the hello waves between neighbours, the casual conversations under the trees. If you weren’t, consider this a nudge for next time: pack your lawn chair, bring your favourite game (and appetite), and come ready to soak in the joy of community.
Here’s to the Men of Southeast Raleigh—and to year 4 of making connection and fellowship in Southeast Raleigh a fall tradition. 🎉
