WakeMed Belongs to the Community: Why Men of Southeast Raleigh Supports Keeping WakeMed Public

WakeMed Should Belong to Our Community—Not a Private Corporation

For generations, WakeMed has served as Wake County’s public hospital system, providing essential healthcare services to families regardless of income, background, or circumstance. Today, many community leaders, advocates, and residents are calling on elected officials to ensure that WakeMed remains accountable to the people it serves.

Men of Southeast Raleigh (MOSER) believes that healthcare decisions affecting our community should prioritize patients, transparency, and public accountability.

As discussions continue regarding a proposed partnership involving Atrium Health, community members are being encouraged to make their voices heard before any final decisions are made.

Why Community Ownership Matters

Supporters of keeping WakeMed community-owned believe that public oversight helps ensure:

  • Healthcare decisions remain focused on patients rather than profits.
  • Local residents continue to have a voice in the future of WakeMed.
  • Essential healthcare services remain accessible throughout Wake County.
  • Public accountability and transparency remain central to major healthcare decisions.

WakeMed has long been an important healthcare provider for Southeast Raleigh and communities across Wake County. Many residents believe its future should continue to be guided by the needs of local patients.

Sign the Community Letter

Residents are encouraged to sign a public letter asking the Wake County Board of Commissioners to reject the proposed Atrium takeover and keep WakeMed accountable to the community.
