*Old Business: Follow-up on Events, Projects & Partnerships since AugustApril Meeting

* September 22, 2024- Final Planning Meeting for MOSER 3rd Annual Family & Friends Cookout on October 5th from 3-7pm at Anderson Point Park.*May 4th – MOSER held our monthly meeting at Old Raleigh Safety Club, 41 brothers were in attendance. 4 new brothers attended. $175 dollars were donated by the men.

* May 8th-MOSER attended the meeting at Biltmore Hills Recreation Center concerning the tennis courts which would entail eliminating one of the Little League baseball fields used for our black and brown children.

*May 2024 – The Fred Fletcher Outstanding Volunteer Service Award/Trophy for The City of Raleigh Adopt-A-Park (that The MOSER were honored with on May 9, 2023) is now on display at John Chavis Memorial Center/Park as you enter the main lobby area. The trophy will remain there for the community to see until we decide otherwise. I received an email on May 14, 2024 informing me of this.

*May 6, 13, 20-MOSER in partnership with Southeast Raleigh Elementary School continue to support the Partner Read Program on Monday mornings at the school. All other schools finished in April, but we enjoyed working with the children so much that we continued for the month of May. Many thanks to Brothers Pollard, Malette, Curtis and myself for their continued support of this program, designed to help our kids by improving reading literacy, competency, fluency and comprehension. We disbursed books and other schools supplies to them on our last day. These items were donated by “Essence of Love” and Ms. Gloria Hill. We also send a “Thank You” card to Ms. Hill for the monetary gift that the collected for the MOSER at the Appreciation Breakfast on May 4, 2024. Total collected was $420, Deposited into bank on 5/6/24.

 

*May 9th-MOSER escorted 4 Beautiful Queens during a Mother’s Day Program held at JCMP to honor and recognize our senior ladies. Their ages were 97, 92 and 2 of them 88 years young. Many thanks to Brothers Pollard, Reed, Satterwhite and Briggs.

* May-MOSER Picnic is tentatively planned for October, Date/Time TBD- Update Harold Malette.

*May-MOSER Library-Books are available to checkout, see Brother Joseph Holt

*May-MOSER Clothing Drive at Oak City Cares is tentatively scheduled from Update Ben Briggs.* (NC Housing Coalition Task Group) held at Monument of Faith Church in Durham. 3 brothers participated.

*Upcoming meeting of the Community Justice Collaborative Regional Gathering will be held on Dec 7, 2024 from 12-3 pm at Southeast Raleigh Table United Methodist Church (Formerly Mount Sinai).

*September 14th-MOSER have been asked to participate/volunteer at the 6th Annual Community Day Celebration (11:00-3:00) Sponsored by the Wake County Social & Economic Vitality in partnership with The City of Raleigh and other community partners. Location TBD and Makeup date 9/21. Updates will be provided leading up to the event.

* MOSER have been asked to partner with Raleigh Village East to help identify SE Raleigh who need minor home improvements/repairs. More information forthcoming. Debra Owens is our contact person. Voted on and agreed to do so.

*New Business: Projects, Events. Programs Partnerships

*May 24th-MOSER were invited by the Chavis Circle of Friends to breakfast at JCMP. Great fellowship and food. I spoke with the groups president and she stated that the group would like to partner with us for future events/projects. Make a motion and vote!

*July 13th-MOSER have been invited to join South Central Church of Christ (at 2010 MLK Blvd) for A Community Wellness Day Event from 10:00 am-2:00 pm. There will be food trucks, bouncy house for children, martial arts, wellness fitness challenge/ women vs men, etc. Invited by Pastor’s Wife Katie Palmer. Sign-list circulating.

*New orders for MOSER Dress Shirts monograms $10. Bring a white Dress shirt and order can be complete within a week. Next order for MOSER gear will be in September.*September 24, 2024-MOSER participated in The Long March For Unity and Justice@ St. Augustine University. Update by Harold Mallette. 4 brothers participated.

*Rob Stephens has officially been selected to the AACF B.O.D. effective 5/24.

*September 26, 2024- MOSER participated in the SE Raleigh Community Volunteer Day held at Roberts Park. I was able to share the history of SE Raleigh  as we transported out-of-town volunteers to the various sites. The AACF will be celebrating the 15th year and will need volunteers to help make this year’s event a success. Volunteers are needed to help in all areas, including set-up, crowd monitoring/marshals, etc.

*June 7th-SERCLC (Free after school program) will be having their annual Fish Fry Fundraiser from 11-6pm at the Church of God of Prophecy on State Street. Please stop by and purchase a plate. Executive Director Wanda McCargo and B.O.D. Chairperson Dr. Sarah McManus thanks you in advance for supporting this after school program which supports/ benefits our children from SE. Raleigh.

 

*September 26, 2024-MOSER participated in the Tax Justice Coalition Meeting held at Martin Street Baptist Church. 7 brothers participated.

 

*October 7, 2024- Spoke at the Wake County Commissioner’s Meeting in support 6, 2024million Bond that was on the November 5th Ballot.

*October 10, 2024 Wake County City Council & Board of Commissioner Candidate Forum @ Watts Chapel.

* October 12, 2024 MOSER participated in and supported The Hands of Protection To Prevent Child Abuse event. “Be A Voice for Children Artistic Expression Fair” held at Tarboro Road Recreation Center. We helped with setting up the facility and had a table for people to stop by and learn more about our mission in SE Raleigh.

* October 13, 2024 -MOSER participated in and supported the Breast Cancer Walk For Hope.

*MOSER resumed the Partner Read Program at SE Raleigh Elementary School on October 15th. We currently have 8 children participating for 2 different time slots. Tuesdays from 8:00-8:45 and 9:50-10:35. 4 brothers are participating

* October,26 2024-MOSER attended and supported the SERCLC Annual Night of Star Gala held at the State Street COGOP.

*November 2-3, 2024 MOSER assisted in setting up and supporting the Xpression of Love “Pre- Holiday Community Benefit Sale” held at Tarboro Road Community Center. $260 from the event was donated to MOSER.

New Business: Projects, Events and Program Partnerships

*MOSER have new Community Partners:

1. Xpression of Love-Donated $260 financial Gift on b 11/8 and also donated diapers and pads to send to Eastern NC.

2.Chavis Circle of Friends -Will be putting together Care Packages for distribution at Oak City Cares and they also donated water for delivery to Eastern NC.

3.The Hands of Protection To Prevent Child Abuse and the Director, Dr. Carolyn Penny.

4.N.C. Housing Coalition-Donated $500 honorarium for our participation in the Housing Coalition Task Group in Durham.

*MOSER assisted and supported Election events during early voting and November 5th elections at polls in our SE Raleigh Community. 6 brothers participated.

*November 14, 2024-MOSER have been invited to the Wild Wild Western Dance sponsored by the JCMP Seniors from 5:00-9:00 pm. Pull out your cowboy boots and best western wear.  Event will be held on the 2nd floor inside the center. Great Food and door prizes. Event is $20 per person.

*November 15, 2024-MOSER have been asked to participate in the SERCLC Annual Family Bonfire and Movie Night at the 3400 Poole Road location from 5:00-7:00pm. Brothers are needed to assist with building the fire, helping youth with roasting hotdogs and making  smores, and most importantly providing a watchful eye for a safe and pleasurable event for all.

* November 16, 2024-MOSER have been asked to participate in the “Show Me the Money” Forum at SE Raleigh YMCA from 1:00-4:00 pm sponsored by Refund Raleigh.

*November 18, 2024-Wake County Commissioners Meeting at Wake County Justice Center at 2:00 pm. Anyone can sign up to speak in support of more allocations of funds for Richard B. Harrison and Southgate Libraries in SE Raleigh (from the 142 million Library Bond) now that it was approved and passed during the election.

*November 21, 2024 -Thanksgiving Luncheon at Roberts Park from 11:00-12:30. Must call in to register.

November 23, 2024 Raleigh Christmas Parade in downtown Raleigh.

*November 13, 2024-MOSER have been invited to the next meeting of The Chavis  Circle of Friends at 11:00 @ the Chavis Recreation Park Old Carousel House.

*December 13, 2024 MOSER in partnership with Nu Gam have been asked to participate in the American Red Cross Sickle Cell Blood Drive from 12:00-2:00. Tony Howard will be at our next meeting in December. More information will be forthcoming.

* December 27, 2024-MOSER in partnership with Harold Malette will participate and support the Annual Kwanzaa Celebration to be held at Southeast Raleigh YMCA. Time TBA
