CELEBRATING 5 YEARS OF SERVICE

CELEBRATING OUR SOUTHEAST RALEIGH COMMUNITIES – 5 YEARS OF ADVOCACY, ENGAGEMENT, IMPACT AND SERVICE

The journey of The Men of Southeast Raleigh: Men of Courage, Confidence & Class began in June 2021, born out of
intentional dialogue between Co-Founders Anthony Pope and Alex Craven. The group was formed to organize and
engage men dedicated to serving, supporting, and advocating for the historically Black communities where they were
raised.
What started as an initial gathering of 20 men, bound by childhood friendships, shared schools, churches, and
neighborhood roots, has grown into a powerful movement for local change. Over the past five years, our brotherhood
has expanded significantly, unifying more dedicated men and forging strong partnerships with local organizations,
leaders, and businesses.

Together, we have turned a shared commitment into tangible and powerful impact across Southeast Raleigh:

  • Community Advocacy & Engagement: Actively addressing key local and governmental issues to ensure our
community’s voices and interests are represented.
  • Neighborhood Beautification: Hands-on initiatives to revive, restore, and maintain the pride and aesthetic of our
historic communities, buildings, streets, and public spaces.
  • Youth Education & Mentorship: Investing in the next generation by assisting young readers to develop reading
skills and an appreciation for learning. Supporting educational programs that impact all students and establishing a
legacy scholarship to financially support graduating high school seniors.
  • Event Support & Outreach: Mobilizing and engaging community partners and resources to support and inform
our community, engage in outreach initiatives, and support local celebrations, programs, and projects.
While the physical landscape of our Southeast neighborhoods continues to shift, our mission remains steadfast. Five years later, we stand stronger than ever, continuing to serve, support, and advocate for the enduring legacy and future of Southeast Raleig
